Chicken Loss – End of the Flock

Back in 2012 my life was changed when a stray chicken wandered into my yard. That was the beginning of my chicken mama lifestyle. Throughout the years I have had multiple chickens and I loved all of them. They became a part of my family. 

Remembering my Cat Abigail

Once again I find myself writing a memorial for a beloved pet this year. I lost my cat Abigail very unexpectedly. I had her since she was a kitten and she was just a little over ten years old. She was the first animal that my husband and me got together. She is greatly missed by us both.

Being Diagnosed with Hereditary Hemochromatosis

I was recently diagnosed with Hereditary Hemochromatosis. This means that my body absorbs too much iron. This can cause a host of problems like organ failure especially if it’s not caught early.  I had never even heard of it before, but after reading about it found out it is not always easily diagnosed. I feel fortunate that was able to get the diagnosis at this point. 

Remembering the Chicken who Changed my Life

I knew the day was coming when I would have to say good-bye to my original hen Buster, but I was hoping I had more time. She was eight plus years old. I think she lived a good life. She literally changed my life in many ways. Against all my objections, my husband was insistent on naming our bantam fireball Buster. 

Remembering My Pet Chicken

I didn’t realize when chickens came into my life, just how much sadness and loss that I would experience. I am saddened by the loss of yet another chicken. My pretty bantam Serama mix Nailie passed away this past week. I don’t really know what happened to her.

How I Felt After 30 Days of Paleo
